The Astros have claimed right-hander Chuckie Fick off waivers from the Cardinals, and he will report to the club on Friday night.
Houston will make a corresponding roster move once Fick joins the team at Minute Maid Park.
The 26-year-old made two appearances with St. Louis this season over a five-day stint (May 26-30), posting a 5.40 ERA (one earned run in 1 2/3 innings). The Cardinals designated him for assignment on Wednesday.
Fick has spent the majority of the year with Triple-A Memphis, where he had a 1-1 record with one save and a 4.68 ERA in 42 appearances out of the bullpen.
He was drafted by the Cardinals in 2007, and owns a career 23-17 record with five saves and a 3.35 ERA in six seasons in the Cardinals' minor league system.
