Holliday scratched due to stiff back

PHOENIX -- The Rockies scratched left fielder Matt Holliday from the lineup just before Friday night's game with the D-backs because of a stiff lower back. Ryan Spilborghs started in his place.

Holliday, hitting .321 with 25 home runs and 88 RBIs, has been dealing with back issues recently. He didn't play in the Rockies' final two home games of the season, last Saturday and Sunday, against Arizona because of back stiffness.

Spilborghs entered Friday night's contest with a seven-game hitting streak.
