White Sox option Pedro Hernandez to Triple-A Charlotte

BOSTON – Following tonight’s game at Boston, the Chicago White Sox optioned left-handed pitcher Pedro Hernandez to Class AAA Charlotte.

 

Hernandez, 23, made his major-league debut tonight at Boston, suffering the loss after allowing eight runs on 12 hits (three home runs) with two strikeouts and one walk.  He became the 12th rookie to appear on the Sox 25-man roster in 2012 (10th pitcher) and the seventh to do so with no previous major-league experience.

 

Hernandez has combined to go 7-2 with a 2.90 ERA (26 ER/80.2 IP) and 50 strikeouts in 14 appearances (13 starts) between Class AA Birmingham and Charlotte this season.

 

The White Sox will make a corresponding roster move prior to tomorrow night’s series finale at Boston.
