Twins place Capps on DL, plan to recall Blackburn
Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed right-handed pitcher Matt Capps on the 15-day disabled list with right rotator cuff irritation. This will be Capps second time on the disabled list this season (right shoulder inflammation, June 24)
To replace Capps on the 25-man roster, the Twins will recall right-handed pitcher Nick Blackburn from Triple-A Rochester. In two starts with the Red Wings, Blackburn went 2-0, with a 0.60 ERA (15.0 ip, 1 er), including a complete game shutout on July 8. Blackburn, who was on the Opening Day roster, went 4-5 with an 8.10 ERA (63.1 ip, 57 er) over 13 starts in his previous stint with the Twins.
