Dodgers place Javy Guerra on bereavement list; recall Josh Wall

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers today placed right-handed reliever Javy Guerra on the Bereavement List and recalled right-hander Josh Wall from Triple-A Albuquerque. Guerra, 26, tossed a scoreless inning of relief last night and is 2-3 with a 3.00 ERA in 30 relief appearances this season. Guerra’s father suffered a heart attack in Mexico last night and the reliever left the country to be by his side. He is eligible to return to the active roster on Tuesday.

Wall, who hopes to make his Major League debut and will wear No. 46, has gone 2-1 with 18 saves in 20 opportunities and a 5.68 ERA in 39 appearances this season with Triple-A Albuquerque. The 25-year-old, who is in just his second season as a reliever, has limited opponents to a .257 batting average this season, including a .214 mark against right-handed hitters. The 6-foot-6, 220-pounder is in his eighth professional season after being selected in the second round of the 2005 First-Year Player Draft out of Central Private High School in Louisiana.
