The San Francisco Giants have signed 32 players from the 2012 First-Year Player Draft, the club announced today. The Giants have come to terms with their first 10 picks, as well as 28 of their first 30 selections from June’s draft. Overall, the club inked 17 of their 21 drafted pitchers, all four of their catchers, six of their eight infielders and five of seven outfielders.
The pitchers include: RHP Chris Stratton (1st), RHP Martin Agosta (2nd), LHP Steven Okert (4th), LHP Tyson Blach (5th), RHP Stephen Johnson (6th), RHP Eduardo Encinosa (7th), LHP Joseph Kurrasch (8th), RHP Ian Gardeck (16th), RHP Christopher Johnson (17th), LHP Randall Zeigler (19th), LHP Andrew Leenhouts (23rd), LHP Mason McVay (26th), LHP Chris Fern (27th), RHP Jason Forjet (31st), LHP Christopher Pickering (32nd), RHP Brandon Farley (33rd) and Zachariah Edgington (34th).
The position players include: catchers Trevor Brown (10th), Leonardo Rojas (15th), Benjamin Turner (21st) and Sam Eberle (25th); infielders Jeremy Sy (12th), Ryan Jones (13th), Matthew Duffy (18th), Mitchell Delfino (20th), Joseph Rapp (28th) and Shayne Houck (29th); outfielders Johnathan Williamson (3rd), Shilo McCall (9th), Tyler Hollick (14th), Brennan Metzger (22nd) and Andrew Cain (24th).
In addition to their draft signings, the Giants also signed three players that were originally passed over, including: Catcher Bradley Moss from Samford University, SS Stephen Branca from Tennessee Wesleyan and SS John Polonius from West Virginia University.
