A’s recall LHP Pedro Figueroa; Place RHP Jim Miller on paternity list
OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s recalled left-handed pitcher Pedro Figueroa from Triple-A Sacramento and placed right-handed pitcher Jim Miller on the paternity list, the club announced today.
Figueroa joins the A’s for the third time this year and has a 1.50 ERA in nine relief appearances over his first two stints. He pitched in eight games over his first stay from April 21 to May 21 but just once during his last stint from June 17 to 20, tossing 3.0 scoreless innings on June 17 against San Diego. The 26-year-old left-hander posted a 1.04 ERA in six appearances with Sacramento following his June 21 option and is 0-1 with a 1.67 ERA in 18 relief outings overall with the River Cats. Figueroa has not allowed a home run in 27.0 innings and has held the opposition to a .186 batting average.
Miller is 2-1 with a 1.78 ERA in 19 relief appearances with Oakland. Opponents are batting .217, including .122 by left-handed hitters. He has tossed two or more innings in seven of his 19 games.
