Homestand Highlights: July 13-22

KANSAS CITY, MO (July 12, 2012) – After the 2012 MLB All-Star Game festivities, the Kansas City Royals continue a great month of baseball in Kansas City with a 10-game homestand against the Chicago White Sox, Seattle Mariners and Minnesota Twins, July 13-22.

The upcoming homestand features something for every Royals fan with great giveaways, fan favorite promotions and popular special events.  Highlights include the Viva Los Royals celebration with an exclusive Royals Chip & Dip Platter giveaway on Saturday, July 14 and the annual Salute to the Negro Leagues festivities and Buck O’Neil bobblehead giveaway on Saturday, July 21. 

Friday, July 13 – Chicago White Sox vs. Royals presented by Sprint, 7:10 p.m.

  • Mystery Gift Card Giveaway – The first 5,000 fans receive a mystery card with great discounts to Rally House.  One lucky fan will receive a card worth $1,000 to be redeemed at any metro Rally House or Kansas Sampler location.
  • Buck Night – Hot dogs, small Pepsi products and peanuts are just $1 each all night long.  www.royals.com/fanvalue.
  • Fireworks Friday – A spectacular fireworks show after every Friday home game, presented by Hy-Vee and Pepsi.

Saturday, July 14 – Chicago White Sox vs. Royals presented by Sprint, 6:10 p.m.

  • Viva Los Royals presented by Sprint – Join the Royals for the annual Viva Los Royals celebration.  The pregame party, presented by Sprint and supported by radio partner La Super X 1160, begins at 4:30 p.m. in the Outfield Experience.  Imperio Sierreno, Willy Vela y sus Aguilillos and El Grupo Atotonilco will entertain fans while local restaurants will compete for the title of “Best Salsa” in Kansas City during the second annual “Salsa Showdown.”  Fans can taste and vote on salsa samplings from local Mexican restaurants near Gate E in the Outfield Experience.  For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.royals.com/viva.  To reserve a group of 20 or more tickets, call (816) 504-4166.

  • INK Student “Night” – Rivals Outfield Box or Hy-Vee Infield tickets are available for all Wednesday home games for high school and college students with valid ID at the Kauffman Stadium Box Office for just $7.  Seating is subject to availability.  All Student Nights include a $7 hot dog and beverage special at the Boulevard Grill in the Outfield Experience.

  • Baseball Legends Immortalized with Postage Stamps – During a special pregame ceremony, the Royals will unveil artwork for a series of new 45-cent forever stamps issued by the United States Postal Service that immortalize four of MLB’s most revered Hall of Famers – Joe DiMaggio, Larry Doby, Willie Stargell and Ted Williams.  The stamps dedication ceremony is taking place earlier in the day at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum as part of the opening day festivities for the Hall of Fame Weekend celebration in Cooperstown, N.Y.

Saturday, July 21 – Minnesota Twins vs. Royals, 6:10 p.m.

  • Salute to the Negro Leagues – The Royals and the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum pay tribute to Kansas City’s rich baseball tradition with this annual salute.  On the field, both teams don Negro League uniforms provided by Sprint with the Royals wearing Kansas City Monarchs home uniforms and the Twins wearing St. Paul Colored Gophers road uniforms.  The game-worn uniforms will be donated to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum for fundraising efforts.  Details will be released at a later date.
  • Buck O’Neil Bobblehead – In conjunction with the Salute to the Negro Leagues festivities, the first 20,000 fans receive a Buck O’Neil bobblehead courtesy of Hy-Vee. (photo attached)
