Dodgers place Andre Ethier on DL

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers today placed outfielder Andre Ethier on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique (retroactive to June 28) and reinstated Mark Ellis from the disabled list. Ethier was batting .291 with 23 doubles, 10 homers and 55 RBI in 75 games this season.

Ellis, who suffered a left leg injury in the Dodgers’ May 18 game against St. Louis, was hitting .273 with 27 runs scored, two home runs and nine RBI in 37 games prior to his stint on the disabled list. The 35-year-old went 4-for-13 (.286) with three RBI in four rehab games with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga, including a two-hit game for the Quakes last night.
