Pirates Homestand Highlights

The Pittsburgh Pirates return to PNC Park for a seven-game homestand as they play host to the Houston Astros and San Francisco Giants. The seventh homestand of the season is highlighted by Military Appreciation Day at PNC Park on Wednesday, July 4 and the rock band Daughtry headlines the second Fan Jam of the season on Saturday, July 7.

Monday, July 2, 2012—Pirates vs. Houston Astros (7:05 p.m.)
Meet the Parrot: Today at 12:30 p.m. the Pirate Parrot will be at PNC Bank in Richland with 50 pairs of FREE tickets as part of the Pirates “Meet the Parrot” Twitter promotion. The first 50 people to meet the Parrot will receive two free tickets to the Wednesday, July 4 game.
Buses for Baseball: The Pittsburgh Pirates are proud to welcome 50 children to PNC Park for the Buses for baseball program. The Buses for Baseball program gives underprivileged kids throughout the United States and Canada the chance to attend a Major League baseball games and meet the players. The Players Trust partners with
local transit authorities and Major League teams, as well as charitable organizations in all Major League cities, to share the thrill of a big league game with kids. These youth are welcomed by players who spend time signing autographs, giving away souvenirs and posing for photographs. Complimentary food and soft drinks during the
game -- and often the chance to see their own faces on the scoreboard -- provide lasting memories before the bus heads home.

Home Run for Hunger: The Pittsburgh Presbyterian Media Mission and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will be collecting non-perishable canned goods on Federal Street. Everyone who donates will receive a coupon for $5 Off an Outfield Box ticket good only for the July 3rd game vs. the Houston Astros.
 
Wednesday, July 4, 2012—Pirates vs. Houston Astros (1:35 p.m.) Independence Day
Military Appreciation Day: Today the Pirates are pleased to present Military Appreciation Day as all veterans and active military personnel are invited to attend the game. Individuals are eligible to receive up to four (4) tickets per Military I.D. in advance of the day of the game by going directly to the PNC Park Ticket Windows. To receive
tickets on the day of the game, please report to the Military Appreciation Sales Booth on Federal Street. Tickets are on a first come, first serve basis and will be available as supplies last.
Morton Military Appreciation: Charlie Morton and his wife Cindy are hosting 40 Military members and their families from Operation Troop Appreciation and Wounded Warriors to the game. Along with the tickets, each soldier will receive $50 in Aramark dollars, a Pirates Camo jersey, Pirates Phiton Camo necklace/bracelet, an
autographed baseball and Pirates items, as a thank you from Charlie and Cindy for their service to our country.
Anything that Floats: Today before the Pirates game, the “Anything that Floats” race is back as part of the 35th Annual Pittsburgh Regatta and this year all proceeds from the race will go directly to support Pirates Charities. The race will start at 10 a.m. on Maz Quay on the North Shore River Walk and entries are encouraged to be as creative

Friday Block Party: Don’t miss tonight’s Friday Block Party on Federal Street. Fans will enjoy a free concert while they party on the street as food & beer sales will be available. Tonight’s featured musical guest is local band Jimbo and the Soupbones.
Torch on Display: Highmark, the Official Health Insurance Supplier of the US Olympic Team and the U.S. Olympic Committee, will be hosting a display of the actual torch from the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. Fans may visit the display along the PNC Park Riverwalk, located inside the Center Field Gate as photo opportunities
will be available.
Disabilities Awareness Night: The Pirates would like to invite fans to PNC Park as they bring people together with all types of disabilities for a Disability Awareness Celebration. Beginning at 4:30pm on Federal Street, there will be a pre-game fair with various vendors, service agencies, and more. Saturday, July 7, 2012—Pirates vs. San Francisco Giants (4:05 p.m.) Fan Jam
Daughtry Fan Jam: After tonight’s game, all fans are encouraged to stay in their seats for a post-game concert featuring the rock band Daughtry, presented by #1 Cochran. NOW for only $25 fans can purchase a pass to watch the concert from the field as pass holders will be accompanied to the infield of PNC Park to experience the

Baseball Fantasy Camp for Kids: Today from 9 to 11:30 a.m., Pirates players and coaches will take part in a fantasy baseball camp for 40 Miracle League players at the Miracle League Field of the South Hills sponsored by the Baseball Fantasy Camp for Kids Organization. The participants will rotate thru five stations and each player will
learn fundamentals from a member of the Pirates staff. Each participant will receive a personalized Pirates jersey along with a Pirates cap and goodie bag.
Saturday Raffles: The Pirates Charities Saturday Raffles will be held in-ballpark throughout the 2012 season. The raffle location is outside of the main Guest Relations office behind section 117. Fans can purchase raffle tickets to win prizes including Pirates memorabilia, original artwork, gift certificates and more. Tickets are one for $2 or three for $5 with all proceeds benefitting Pirates Charities. The prize drawing takes place at the end of the 7th inning.
Scratch and Win: All fans, with paid admission, will receive a scratch and win ticket, compliments of Eat’n Park.
 
Sunday, July 8, 2012—Pirates vs. San Francisco Giants (1:35 p.m.) Kids Day
Kids Day: Come down early and join the fun as the #1 Cochran Family Fun Zone will be open on Federal Street from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lined up outside PNC Park will be inflatable rides, face painting, information about the #1 Cochran Bucaroos Kids Club and more.
Kids Pierogy Inner Tube: Today all kids ages 14 and younger, with paid admission, receive a free kids Pierogy Inner Tube, presented by Mrs. T’s Pierogies.
4ALS: The 4ALS program is a collaborative outreach effort between the Pittsburgh Pirates, the ALS Association of Western PA, MDA, and the ALS Therapy Development Institute. The program is an effort to spread awareness and information about the impact ALS has on individuals and families. Present at the game will be over 200 fans
impacted by ALS. Prior to the game, the Pirates will recognize 10 individuals from all three organizations on-field for a special group-salute.
Kids Run the Bases: Kids attending today’s game are invited to stick around after the game to run the bases on the field at PNC Park, courtesy of H.K. Anderson Pretzels.

Karstens Kares
On Sunday, July 22 from 6 to 9 p.m., Jeff Karstens and his fiancée, Jessica will host “Cook for a Cause” at Nakama—Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar. Jeff, Jessica and other Pirates celebrities will Cook for a Cause to raise money for Pirates Charities and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. but there will be an outdoor block party with food, beverages and entertainment.

Join us for a party on the deck! On Friday, July 20 the Pirates will host their second Social Media Night of 2012 at PNC Park. Bucs Social Suite
During the Houston series (7/2-5) at PNC Park the Pirates will host the Bucs Social Media Suite in Suite 62. New for the 2012 season the Pirates introduced the Bucs Social Media Suite, a luxury suite at PNC Park dedicated specifically for the team’s social media followers and offered for select games the remainder of the season. Six followers (plus one guest each) will be chosen for each game through a variety of ways- free of charge- through the team’s Facebook (Facebook.com/Pirates) and Twitter (@Pirates) accounts. Wins for kids
Join Clint Hurdle and his wife Karla, along with Pirates Charities and ROOT SPORTS, in the 2012 Wins for Kids campaign. The program is simple: make a monetary pledge to Pirates Charities for each Pirates win during the 2012 regular season. Over the course of the season, your donation will help Pirates Charities strengthen our community by supporting organizations and programs aimed at improving the lives of children and adults in the greater Pittsburgh area. All monies raised through our Wins for Kids program will benefit Pirates Charities and the Children's Institute of Pittsburgh's Prader- Willi Syndrome Program. Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) is a rare, complex genetic disorder that affects many parts of the body and the Children's Institute of Pittsburgh is the only hospital-based site in the world offering treatment for this population.
 
Where’s the Parrot?

• On Saturday, July 14, he will attend the Indianapolis Indians game as they take on the Columbus Clippers at 7:05p.m.

Dynamic Pricing Section
New for 2012, the Pirates unveiled dynamic pricing system for the Bleacher General Admission section at PNC Park. Tickets for the 1,400 seat section, located in left field, will be placed on sale 10-days prior to each home game. The initial ticket price will then be adjusted- both lower and higher- in real time, based on demand.
