The Rays and Gold & Diamond Source partnered together to create a promotion in which each donated $100 to Hands Across the Bay for the first walk drawn by the Rays offense in each game between April 6 through May 30. During that time, over $10,000 was generated and set aside to aid Hands Across the Bay and their suicide prevention initiative, “Walk for Hope and Help,” held on June 9. The walk provided an opportunity for those affected by suicide to remember the ones they have lost and raise suicide awareness throughout the Tampa Bay area.
Hands Across the Bay was founded in January 2010 to support programs, organizations and individuals whose objectives and efforts are dedicated to improving the quality of life in the Tampa Bay area.
“The entire team at Gold & Diamond Source was incredibly proud to partner with our hometown Rays for this worthwhile cause,” said Gold & Diamond Source owner Steve Weintraub. “The turnout for the event was beyond what we expected and we appreciate the role the Rays played in making it such a huge success.”
“We are very proud to have partnered with Gold & Diamond Source in supporting Hands Across the Bay,” said Rays Senior Vice President Mark Fernandez. “Julie and Steve Weintraub along with their entire staff are committed to making a difference in our community.”
