The Padres entered Friday's game against the Mariners with a 6-6 record in Interleague Play. They have won 12 of their last 20 Interleague games and four of the last seven Interleague series, dating back to last season.
If the Padres win two of three games in this series, they will clinch their third winning season in Interleague Play. The others occurred in 1999 (11-4) and 2010 (9-6).
Infielder Cory Spangenberg, the Padres' first-round Draft pick in 2011, went on the seven-day disabled list on Friday after suffering concussion-like symptoms on Thursday. He was hit on the left side of his helmet by a thrown ball in pregame drills.
His disabled list stint is retroactive to June 20. Spangenberg is hitting .291 this season with 21 stolen bases in 66 games for Class A Lake Elsinore.
