HOUSTON - Astros' second baseman Jose Altuve moved up a spot for the second week in a row in the latest round of All-Star Game balloting totals that were released Tuesday.

Altuve, who ranks second in the National League with 29 multihit games passed fellow Venezuelan Omar Infante and moved into third place among second basemen. There's a long way to go, though, if Altuve wants to start at second base for the NL next month.

Altuve surpassed 1 million votes (1,074,993), but he trails Cincinnati's Brandon Phillips (1,272,389) for second place. Atlanta's Dan Uggla, leads NL second basemen with 2,054,902 votes in the latest round of balloting.

Entering Tuesday, Altuve was eighth in hitting for the NL with a .320 batting average, and third in the league with 85 hits.

No other Astros players were among the leaders at their positions.

Fans can cast their votes for starters up to 25 times at and all 30 club sites -- online or via your mobile device -- using the 2012 All-Star Game Ballot until Thursday, June 28, at 10:59 p.m. CT.

Fans can also once again participate in the State Farm Home Run Derby Fan Poll. Fans will have the opportunity to select three players in each league who they would most like to see participate in the State Farm Home Run Derby. The 2012 State Farm Home Run Derby -- part of Gatorade All-Star Workout Day -- will be broadcast live on ESPN, ESPN HD, ESPN Deportes and ESPN Radio in the United States beginning at 7 p.m. CT on Monday, July 9.

The 2012 American League and National League All-Star teams will be unveiled on Sunday, July 1, on the 2012 MLB All-Star Game Selection Show, televised nationally on TBS. Baseball fans around the world will then be able to select the final player on each team via the 2012 All-Star Game Final Vote on

And the voting doesn't end there. The final phase of All-Star Game voting will again have fans participating in the official voting for the Ted Williams All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award presented by Chevrolet. During the Midsummer Classic, fans will vote exclusively online at via the 2012 All-Star Game MVP Vote, and their voice will represent 20 percent of the official vote determining the recipient of the Arch Ward Trophy.

Altuve, 21, began last season in Class A Lancaster and wound up in Houston by the end of July. He batted .276 with two homers and 12 RBIs in 57 games for the Astros in 2011.
