Giants Wives/Community Fund to hold auction

SAN DIEGO -- The annual Giants Wives/Community Fund auction will be held during and after Saturday's game against the Texas Rangers at AT&T Park.

Baskets filled with the favorite items of several players -- restaurant certificates, snacks, movies, books -- will be made available for bidding from 11 a.m. through the fourth inning at the Community Clubhouse on the Promenade Level behind home plate. Among the Giants who have put together goodie baskets are Jeremy Affeldt, Brandon Belt, Madison Bumgarner, Brandon Crawford, Aubrey Huff, Javier Lopez, Angel Pagan, Buster Posey, Nate Schierholtz and Ryan Vogelsong.

Numerous other prizes will be available in the postgame live auction staged atop the Giants dugout, such as opportunities to meet broadcasters Mike Krukow and Duane Kuiper, general manager Brian Sabean, manager Bruce Bochy and former first baseman J.T. Snow. A pitching lesson from All-Star right-hander Matt Cain also will be among the experiences up for auction.

Proceeds benefit the Giants Community Fund; the George Mark Children's House, which is a hospice home for children; and bullpen coach Mark Gardner's Step to the Plate Foundation.
