MINNEAPOLIS -- Joe Mauer is in third place in votes for catcher in the American League balloting for the 2012 All-Star Game, according to the first All-Star ballot update released on Tuesday.

Mauer has bounced back from a down 2011 campaign that was marked by various injuries, as he's hitting .298 with a .407 on-base percentage and .419 slugging percentage in 52 games. The backstop also has three homers, 12 doubles, 25 RBIs and 31 runs.
