Rockies promote Brothers, option Torres
The Rockies on Saturday recalled left-hander Rex Brothers from Colorado Springs and optioned right-hander Carlos Torres to the Triple-A affiliate.

This will be Brothers' second stint with the Rockies this season. He broke spring camp with Colorado before being optioned to Triple-A on May 20.

Brothers, 24, is 2-2 with a 5.87 ERA with 12 walks and 21 strikeouts in 22 appearances for the Rockies this season. He allowed only one earned run in 5 1/3 innings with Colorado Springs.

Brothers, who was drafted 34th overall by the Rockies in the 2009, is 3-4 with a 3.70 ERA in 70 career Major League games.

Torres, 29, allowed three runs on five hits and five walks while fanning four in six innings over four appearances with the Rockies.
