Wright goes to bat for hospital

David Wright was among many New York Mets players who lent their support to benefit White Plains Hospital Center during a fantasy baseball clinic held at Chelsea Piers on Jan. 27, 2007.

The starting lineup of past and present stars included Paul Lo Duca, Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez, John Maine, Jose Reyes, Aaron Heilman, Ben Johnson, Lee Mazzilli and Howard Johnson.

Billed as Baseball Fantasy Camp 2007, this inaugural event offered children ages 6 to 15 the experience of a lifetime, including baseball sessions in batting, pitching, baserunning and fielding as well as question-and-answer sessions, photos with players and autographs.

The Baseball Fantasy Camp 2007 helped to fund the new Kylie and Louis R. Cappelli Pediatric Emergency Center that is dedicated exclusively to the treatment of children.

The Emergency Center will have its own waiting room for the exclusive use of children and their families that is separate and distinct from the main emergency room.

In addition, child-friendly bays will be designed to make a child's Hospital experience less intimidating while ensuring that specially designed pediatric equipment is readily available.

The facility will also be staffed round the clock with healthcare professionals trained in pediatric emergency medicine.
