Six-Game Homestand Includes Rays Summer Concert Series

ST. PETERSBURG, FL—The Tampa Bay Rays begin a six-game homestand on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, with a three-game series against the Chicago White Sox (May 28-30) followed by a three-game set with the American League East-leading Baltimore Orioles (June 1-3).
 
On Saturday, June 2, LL COOL J will perform a concert featuring DJ Z-Trip following the Rays-Orioles game scheduled for 4:10 p.m. as part of the Rays popular Summer Concert Series.  LL COOL J is an entertainment icon who has found great success crossing into multiple mediums.  A two-time Grammy? Award winner, recording artist, talented actor, author, NAACP Image Award winner, entrepreneur and philanthropist, LL continues to display his wide range of talents with every project.  First introduced to the world in 1984 as a Def Jam Records flagship artist, LL is the first rap artist to amass ten consecutive platinum-plus selling albums.  The multi-platinum artist and two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominee is currently tied for third place for most Billboard chart debuts by a rapper.  As an actor, LL COOL J has successfully transitioned to one of the consistently highest rated shows on television.  He currently stars in the CBS hit primetime drama series, “NCIS: LOS ANGELES” and his performance on the show garnered him a NAACP Image Award in 2011 and 2012 for his role of ‘Special Agent Sam Hanna.’
 
This marks the fifth season of the Rays Summer Concert Series.  Since it began in 2008, the Rays have gone 27-6 (on Saturday concerts) and averaged more than 30,000 fans on those dates.  The Rays Summer Concert Series is produced by Ruth Eckerd Hall on the Road.
 
On Friday, June 1, Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the Rays-Orioles game.  Schiano begins his first season at the helm of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after being named the ninth head coach in franchise history on January 27, 2012.
 
On Sunday, June 3, the Rays welcome back the Long Haul Bombers, a group of softball home run hitters, to Tropicana Field prior to the Rays-Orioles game.  The Long Haul Bombers present a unique display of power as members participate in a one-of-a-kind home run derby.  They will begin at 12:50 p.m.    
 
The homestand will feature two unique giveaways.  On Friday, June 1, the first 10,000 fans will receive a Jeremy Hellickson Rookie of the Year figurine presented by Tampa Bay Times as part of Friday Fest presented by Captain Morgan.  On Sunday, June 3, the first 10,000 kids 14 and under will receive a Desmond Jennings bobblehead presented by Pepsi MAX.
