Lind not placed on waivers, contrary to reports
ST. PETERSBURG -- Contrary to a series of online reports last week, as of Wednesday there were no indications that the Blue Jays placed veteran first baseman Adam Lind on outright waivers.

Reports surfaced on May 18 that Lind had been placed on irrevocable waivers one day after being optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas. However, a baseball source on Wednesday said there is no evidence of that happening.

If Lind had been outrighted, he could have been removed from the 40-man roster after a 48-hour period, but a second source confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that the 28-year-old was still on the club's official list.

Lind, who is in his final option year, is signed through the 2013 season. He will make $5 million next season, while the club also has an additional three option years valued at $22.5 million, with buyouts that amount to $3.5 million.

The native of Indiana was optioned to the Minors following a subpar start to the season. Lind was hitting just .186, with three home runs and 11 RBIs in 34 games at the time of his demotion.

Lind is now currently playing for Triple-A Las Vegas. Through three games, he was hitting 5-for-10 with a home run.
