Outfielder Laynce Nix said his strained left calf will keep him on the disabled list longer than 15 days, though he will travel with the club to St. Louis. Nix is eligible to come off the disabled list Friday.
"It's kind of just a process of waiting and making sure it's 100 percent before I test it," Nix said.
Right-hander David Herndon (right elbow inflammation) received a platelet-rich plasma injection Tuesday by team physician Michael Ciccotti. He will be reevaluated in two weeks.
Right-hander Mike Stutes (right shoulder inflammation) will be shut down another 10-14 days. He then will be reevaluated to see if he can begin a throwing program.
Right-hander Justin De Fratus (sprained right elbow) will resume his throwing program Friday.
