• Manager Fredi Gonzalez said he spoke with third baseman Juan Francisco about how Francisco reacted after hitting a home run Monday. Francisco flipped the bat away and strolled around the bases. Gonzalez wasn't pleased.

"We try not to do that here, and I don't like that here," said Gonzalez.

• Tuesday's starting pitcher Brandon Beachy entered his outing with seven consecutive quality starts to lead the team in that category.

• Shortstop Tyler Pastornicky had an eight-game hitting streak snapped Monday, but he is hoping it can be re-instated upon appeal. Pastornicky was originally credited with an infield hit in the eighth inning, but the official scorer quickly changed his ruling and gave Reds third baseman Todd Frazier an error.
