The Oakland A’s recalled right-handed pitcher Graham Godfrey from Triple-A Sacramento and optioned left-handed pitcher Pedro Figueroa to Sacramento, the club announced today. Godfrey is scheduled to start tonight’s game against Los Angeles.
Godfrey was on the A’s Opening Day roster and began the season as the A’s fourth starter. He lost each of his three starts, posting a 5.06 ERA, before he was optioned to Sacramento April 21. The 27-year-old right-hander went 3-0 with a 1.21 ERA in five starts with the River Cats. He walked just five batters in 29.2 innings after issuing seven free passes in 16.0 innings with Oakland. Godfrey allowed a .255 opponents batting average with Sacramento, including .109 against right-handed hitters and .071 with runners in scoring position.
Figueroa was recalled from Sacramento April 21 and made his Major League debut with Oakland, posting a 2.00 ERA in eight relief appearances. He walked one or more batter in seven of his eight appearances and issued nine walks in 9.0 innings. Figueroa did not allow a run in five games and 7.0 innings with the River Cats to start the season.
