Left field Carlos Quentin reacted well to a cortisone shot this week, but the Padres have yet to determine when he'll next play in a game, Black said.
Quentin is expected to go on another rehab assignment before he rejoins the club. He has been on the DL all season following right knee surgery.
Closer Huston Street is "doing better" and will join the Padres on their upcoming road trip, Black said. He went on the DL on May 5 with a strained lat muscle.
Starting pitcher Joe Wieland is doing better and is closer to throwing, Black said. He went on the DL on May 10, retroactive to May 7, with a strained right elbow.
Outfielder Mark Kotsay is getting better daily and was available to pinch-hit after experiencing tightness in his lower back last weekend.
