Players of the Week Pitcher: LHS Lino Martinez, Lakewood. Was 0-0 for 1 start, a 1-0 Lakewood win over Greensboro on Thursday. The 6-foot, 165-pounder pitched 7 innings, allowed 3 hits and 3 walks and struck out 5. For the season, he is 2-2 with a 6.19 ERA. A year ago he was 6-4, 2.79, for manager Mickey Morandini in Williamsport. The youngest player on the Lakewood roster (9/17/92), Martinez was signed in 2009 out of Venezuela by Jesus Mendez and Carlos Salas.

Player: 3B Cody Asche, Clearwater. Hit .440 with an organization-high 11 hits after hitting .417 the previous week. Ended last week on a 13-game hitting streak (.453), raising his average from .294 to .364. Hitting .413 this month. For the season, hitting .364, 1 home run, 11 RBIs, 2 errors in 30 games. The 21-year-old left-handed hitter was selected in the 4th round in 2011 out of the University of Nebraska and signed by David Seifert.
