Miami Marlins take on the Mets, Pirates at Marlins Park

MIAMI –The Miami Marlins are ready to take on the New York Mets (May 11-May 13) and the Pittsburgh Pirates (May 14-May 15) at Marlins Park. The five-game homestand will feature a fan giveaway (Charm Bracelet sponsored by Goya Foods for the first 5,000 moms on Mother’s Day) and several special events, including a Friday Night Live post-game on-field concert with LL COOL J featuring DJ Z-Trip, a Post-game Plaza Party for all fans, Mother’s Appreciation Day and special promotions including Marlins All You Can Eat Special for just $29; includes a Legends Level ticket and all you can eat hot dogs, peanuts, popcorn, nachos, sodas and water and the Marlins 4 for $54 Pack, including 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 sodas and 4 bags of chips for $54.

 

Starting Friday, May 11, the Marlins will host the New York Mets. First pitch is set for 7:10 P.M. at Marlins Park. Fans are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy the pre-game party on the West Plaza, plus fans can enjoy a public autograph session with a Marlins Player from 6 P.M. to 6:20 P.M. Fans are encouraged to stay after the game and enjoy Friday Night Live Performance with LL Cool J featuring DJ Z-Trip. Fans will also have the opportunity to submit their All-Star ballot at the ballpark or online through June 8th.  In-Stadium All-Star Balloting will also kick off on Friday, allowing fans to vote for their favorite National League and American League All-Star hopefuls.  The top vote getters in each league will be elected to start for their respective leagues at this year’s annual Major League Baseball All-Star Game, which will be held in Kansas City, Missouri on Tuesday, July 10th.

 

The three-game series continues on Saturday, May 12 at 1:05 P.M. with a Post-game Plaza Party for all fans. The event is free and open to the public. This Saturday will feature pre-game entertainment on the West Plaza from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. and an autograph session with a Marlins player.

 

On Sunday, Mother’s Day, May 13 the series against the Mets will conclude. First pitch is set for 1:10 P.M. Pre-game fun will feature West Plaza entertainment with Radio Disney AM 990, DJ Petey and the Energy Team. Also, as part of Snapshot Sunday fans can take photos with a Marlins player on the Promenade level from 12 P.M. to 12:20 P.M. Post-game entertainment will include Diamond Dash where moms can run the bases with the kids after the game. Also, the first 5,000 moms will receive a Charm Bracelet sponsored by Goya Foods.

 

The homestand will continue on Monday, May 14 against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Military personnel can claim their free tickets in honor of Military Mondays sponsored by Outback Steakhouse. Also, fans can get the Marlins All You Can Eat Special for just $29; includes a Legends Level ticket and all you can eat hot dogs, peanuts, popcorn, nachos, sodas and water. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 P.M. On Tuesday, May 15 the homestand will conclude when the Marlins play the  Pittsburgh Pirates at 7:10 P.M. THE BUCK-A-ROOS: The CHARLEE Program will be bringing 20-25 special needs children as part of the Buck-A-Roos program. John Buck has donated tickets, a buckaroo shirt, food vouchers, and will also have a private meet and greet with the kids. John Buck will take part in a private meet and greet with the kids in the Media Press Conference Room.

 

The CHARLEE Program works with abandoned, neglected and abused children.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE POST-GAME ON-FIELD CONCERT WITH LL COOL J FEATURING DJ Z-TRIP: Born in Bay Shore, New York, James Todd Smith, LL Cool J is a nickname that stands for "Ladies Love Cool James." He is known for romantic ballads such as "I Need Love," "Around the Way Girl" and "Hey Lover" as well as pioneering hip-hop with hits such as "I Can't Live Without My Radio," "I'm Bad," "The Boomin' System" and "Mama Said Knock You Out." He has released thirteen studio albums and two greatest hits compilations, including 2008's Exit 13. SWINTON, and an on field check presentation of $10,000 to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward County. 

 

PLAZA PARTY:  The Miami Marlins will host a Plaza Party this Saturday, May 12, after the Marlins take on the Mets at 1:05 P.M. at Marlins Park. As part of Mother’s Day celebration and Breast Cancer Awareness Day, breast cancer survivors submitted their stories of survival and their passion for baseball for a chance to be the honorary Marlins bat girl. This is part of MLB and Susan G Komen for for the Cure, teaming up to honor fans that are “Going to bat against cancer.”

 

Diamond Dash:  After every Marlins Family Sunday, kids 12 and under get to run the bases on the field in the Marlins Diamond Dash. On Mother’s Day, moms can run the bases with their kids. We also ask that children do not slide at any base or Home Plate for their own safety.  Billy’s Bunch kids club members can present their 2012 membership card in order to move up to the Diamond Dash Fast Lane.
