White Sox Charities smart car raffle

CHICAGO - Beginning this Friday, May 11, Chicago White Sox fans will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets to win a 2012 White Sox-themed passion coupe smart car, donated by smart center of Orland Park.  All proceeds will benefit Chicago White Sox Charities (CWSC).

Since its inception in 1990, CWSC has exceeded $17 million in charitable donations to various nonprofit and social service organizations, youth baseball initiatives and inner-city programs.  Additionally, CWSC provides grants to a variety of organizations in the Chicagoland area that are committed to the fight against cancer, improving the lives of youth through education and athletics, assisting at-risk children and families and supporting civic health programs.  In 2011 alone, CWSC donated $1.63 million to organizations in need.

"We always are looking for fun ways to engage our fans in helping to raise funds for charities," said Christine O'Reilly, White Sox Senior Director of Community Relations.  "White Sox Charities has been able to give numerous donations to wonderful charitable organizations throughout our community, thanks in great part to our generous fans, sponsors and friends.  We are thankful to smart center of Orland Park for donating this special White Sox car and cannot wait to give the keys away to a lucky fan later this season."

Fans will be able to see the black smart car, emblazoned with White Sox logos and script on all sides, displayed in different places in and around the ballpark throughout the season.  Tickets will be on sale for $10 during games and at U.S. Cellular Field ticket windows, as well as at whitesox.com.  The winning raffle ticket will be selected in September.
