White Sox return to Quintana to Double-A Birmingham

CLEVELAND -- Following tonight’s game at Cleveland, the Chicago White Sox returned left-handed pitcher Jose Quintana to Double-A Birmingham.

Quintana, 23, made his major-league debut in the opener of today’s split doubleheader vs. the Indians.  He worked 5.2 scoreless IP, allowing just one hit with three strikeouts. 

The 5.2 scoreless IP were the most by a White Sox pitcher in his major-league debut since Jack McDowell went 7.0 scoreless IP on September 15, 1987 vs. Minnesota (source: STATS LLC).

With the move, the White Sox active roster returns to 25.
