Baseball Tomorrow Fund awards $27,500 to Louisa Little League

The Baseball Tomorrow Fund (BTF) awarded a grant in the amount of $27,500 to the Louisa Little League to install Musco Lighting equipment on its junior league field to help the league recover from the aftermath of the 5.8-magnitude earthquake that hit Louisa County, Virginia on August 23, 2011, causing more than $80 million in damage to homes, businesses and schools.

To celebrate the completion of the renovation, the Louisa Little League will host a field dedication ceremony at the Louisa Junior League Field at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 5th.  Mayor of Louisa, James S. Artz; Senior Grant Coordinator of the Baseball Tomorrow Fund, Meghan Chisholm; Musco Lighting Representative, Steve Wiley and representatives from the Louisa City Council will be on hand to take part in the festivities.

Located at the epicenter of the earthquake, the Louisa County high school and elementary school were significantly damaged, displacing more than 2,000 students for the 2011-2012 school year.  More than 100 trailers were placed on the middle school athletic fields to accommodate the students, forcing the Louisa Little League to relocate. The addition of field lighting and field renovations completed by the league will serve approximately 350 players by addressing the lack of field availability.

"The Baseball Tomorrow Fund is pleased to assist the Louisa Little League in continuing to provide ways to support this vital activity for the children and families in the wake of last year's earthquake," said Cathy Bradley, Executive Director of the Baseball Tomorrow Fund. "We, along with our partner, Musco Lighting, feel honored to be a part of this community's recovery."

"Musco is honored to be working with the Baseball Tomorrow Fund and Louisa Little League on such a special project that will serve area Little Leaguers for years to come," said Wiley.  "Louisa County residents have been steadfast in their effort to rebuild after the earthquake and we're grateful to be supporting that effort here in Virginia."
"The earthquake from last year has left an indelible mark on this community," said Mark Alberts, President of the Louisa Little League. "In an effort to return to a state of normalcy, Louisa Little League has aspired to bring good to Louisa by renovating this field for our youth. We thank the Baseball Tomorrow Fund and Musco for their efforts in making this dream a reality."
