Marlins face off against the Diamondbacks

The Miami Marlins are set to host the Arizona Diamondbacks (April 27-30) at Marlins Park. The four-game homestand will feature a fan giveaway (Omar Infante Kids T-shirt courtesy of MetroPCS) and several special events, including a West Plaza concert open to the public, a fireworks show, Family Sunday and much more. Fans will receive a Marlins Playbill as a giveaway for all four games.

Starting Friday, April 27, the Marlins will host the Arizona Diamondbacks. First pitch is set for 7:10 P.M. at Marlins Park. Fans are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy the pre-game party on the West Plaza, plus fans can enjoy a public autograph session with a Marlins Player from 6 P.M. to 6:20 P.M. Friday’s pre-game ceremony will include Marlins President David Samson’s arrival from a 52.4 mile run to honor Marlins Park workers. David will run through Center Field while being greeted by 500 workers. The ceremony will continue with ten charity check presentations on the field. A total of $550,000 will be donated. Later in the game, the Marlins will unveil a permanent plaque to be located on the Promenade Level with the name of every worker who helped build Marlins Park. Friday’s post-game entertainment will include a Heineken Light concert on the West Plaza open to the public, featuring live music from DJ Laz. Fans will also have the opportunity to submit their All-Star ballot at the ballpark or online through June 8th.  In-Stadium All-Star Balloting will also kick off on Friday, allowing fans to vote for their favorite National League and American League All-Star hopefuls.  The top vote getters in each league will be elected to start for their respective leagues at this year’s annual Major League Baseball All-Star Game, which will be held in Kansas City, Missouri on Tuesday, July 10th.

The four-game series continues on Saturday, April 28 at 7:10 P.M. with a post-game fireworks spectacular. This Saturday will feature pre-game entertainment on the West Plaza from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. and an autograph session with a Marlins player. Post-game entertainment will feature a fireworks show and a post-game party on the West Plaza with music, entertainment and more.

On Sunday, April 29 the series against the Diamondbacks will continue with Family Sunday. First pitch is set for 1:10 P.M. Pre-game fun will feature West Plaza entertainment with Radio Disney AM 990, DJ Petey and the Energy Team. Also, as part of Snapshot Sunday fans can take photos with a Marlins player on the Promenade level from 12 P.M. to 12:20 P.M. Post-game entertainment will include Diamond Dash where kids 12 and under can run the bases after the game. Also, the first 5,000 kids 12 and under will receive an Omar Infante Kids T-shirt courtesy of MetroPCS.

The homestand will conclude on Monday, April 30. Military personnel can claim their free tickets in honor of Military Mondays sponsored by Outback Steakhouse. Also, the CBS4 Weather team will be conducting a presentation on the field in honor or Weather Day. First pitch is scheduled for 12:40 P.M.

DAVID SAMSON RUN TO HONOR THE WORKERS CHECK PRESENTATION: On Saturday, April 27th Marlins President David Samson will run 50 miles to raise funds in honor of the construction workers who made Marlins Park a reality. Over $550,000 that was raised will be donated to 10 charities of choice. To culminate the end of Samson’s run, each organization will be presented with their contribution during a special on field ceremony before the game.

UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI CHECK PRESENTATIONS: The Marlins Foundation will donate $7,500 to the University of Miami School of Education in support of their Scholarship Program.  David Samson, President of the Marlins and Chairman of the Marlins Foundation, along with Marlins Sr. Vice President of Communications and Broadcasting, PJ Loyello, will present the check to the University of Miami School of Education that will be reward as a scholarship to a student in the University of Miami Sports Administration Program. The Marlins have donated $45,000 to this scholarship over the last seven seasons.

In addition, the Marlins will honor the memory of Suzanne Rayson, who served as the Marlins Director of Broadcasting from 2002 – 2008.  President of the Marlins, David  Samson, and Sr. Vice President of Communications and Broadcasting, PJ Loyello, will present a check for $5,000 to the University of Miami School of Communication for the Suzanne Rayson Scholarship. This annual scholarship is awarded to a student with an interest in sports broadcasting in the Broadcast Journalism Program.

50-50 RAFFLE: Every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday home game the Marlins Foundation partners with local non-profit organizations to host the 50/50 Raffle. The 50/50 Raffle Programs provides fans the opportunity to win 50% of the proceeds, with the other half of the proceeds benefitting the guest non-profit organization. MIAMI MARLINS YOUTH BASEBALL CLINIC: The Marlins will be hosting the Challenger League for an on-field youth baseball clinic. The clinic will feature 2 Marlins players and a member of our coaching staff to serve as instructors for the clinic. Kids will have the opportunity to hit inside a major league batting cage, throw in the marlins bullpen, and practice fielding out in centerfield.

FIREWORKS AND AFTER PARTY:  Fans can stay in their seats after the game to enjoy a Fireworks Spectacular, followed by a post-game concert with the band LIME, live from the West Plaza. The party will go on for approximately 45 minutes after the game, and will be hosted by DJ Petey.

Diamond Dash:  After every Marlins Family Sunday, kids 12 and under get to run the bases on the field in the Marlins Diamond Dash. Parents may walk them down to the field, but not participate unless their child needs assistance. We also ask that children do not slide at any base or Home Plate for their own safety.  Billy’s Bunch kids club members can present their 2012 membership card in order to move up to the Diamond Dash Fast Lane.

CBS4 WEATHER DAY: The CBS4 Weather Team will conduct their first Weather Day at Marlins Park.  CBS4 Weather Day will consist of the following CBS4 personalities, Jeff  Berardelli, Craig Setzer, David Bernard and Lissette Gonzalez.  CBS4 Weather team will be conducting a pre-game presentation on the playing field to 12,000 3rd to 8th graders from Palm Beach, Dade and Monroe counties. The program is scheduled to run from 10:45 AM – 11:45 AM and take place on the field. The students will be in their seats. Students will arrive by bus, be dropped off and the buses will park at an off-site lot.
