CHICAGO -- Prior to Saturday's game against the Blue Jays at PNC Park, the Pirates will hold an on-field ceremony to present the family of Pirates great Roberto Clemente with a trophy in recognition of Clemente being voted onto the "Rawlings Gold Glove All-Time Team."
Clemente, who won 12 Gold Glove awards in 18 seasons with Pittsburgh, was one of three outfielders voted to the Rawlings All-Time Team, along with Willie Mays and Ken Griffey, Jr.
Clemente's wife, Vera, and their two sons, Roberto Jr. and Luis, will accept the trophy, before Roberto Jr. throws out the ceremonial first pitch.
"The Pittsburgh Pirates are very proud of what Roberto Clemente has done for this organization, both on and off the field, and this award is just another indication of how his legacy continues to live on," Pirates president Frank Coonelly said in a release on Wednesday. "This honor recognizes what all Pirates fan have know for a long time -- that Roberto Clemente was the greatest right fielder to ever play the game."
Rounding out the rest of the Gold Glove team is catcher Johnny Bench, pitcher Greg Maddux and infielders Wes Parker, Joe Morgan, Ozzie Smith and Brooks Robinson.
Saturday's game is scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m. ET.
