Mets place Cedeno on 15-day disabled list, recall Hefner from Buffalo

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The New York Mets today announced the team placed infielder Ronny Cedeno on the 15-Day Disabled List, retroactive to April 21, with a left intercostal strain and recalled righthanded pitcher Jeremy Hefner from Buffalo (AAA) of the International League.  Hefner will wear #53 and be available for today’s doubleheader.

Cedeno, 29, is hitting .250 (3-12) in 10 games, three starts, this season.

Hefner, 26, is 2-1 with a 1.96 ERA (four earned runs/18.1 innings) in three games, all starts, for the Bisons. The 6-4, 215-pound native of Perkins, OK, beat Lehigh Valley, 4-1, in his last start on April 18 in Buffalo.
