D-backs Recall Albaladejo From Reno, Place Hudson on DL

PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks announced today they have recalled right-handed pitcher Jonathan Albaladejo from Triple-A Reno and placed right-handed pitcher Daniel Hudson on the 15-day disabled list (retro to April 19) with a right shoulder impingement, according to D-backs’ Executive Vice President & General Manager Kevin Towers.

Albaladejo, 29, was 1-1 with a 2.35 ERA (2 ER in 7.2 IP) and 7 strikeouts in 8 relief appearances with Reno in 2012. He limited opponents to a .087 average (2-for-23) and did not allow a run in his last 3 outings (5.0 IP).

The 6-foot-5 right-hander spent the entire 2011 season with the Yomiuri Giants of the Japanese Central League, going 2-2 with a 2.45 ERA (14 ER in 51.1 IP) and 2 saves in 46 games. Albaladejo is 6-3 with a 4.15 ERA (34 ER in 73.2 IP) in 63 Major League relief appearances with the Nationals (2007) and Yankees (2008-10).

Hudson, 25, is 1-1 with a 6.00 ERA (12 ER in 18.0 IP) in 3 starts with the D-backs this season. He allowed 2 runs on 6 hits in 7.2 innings in his last start on April 18 vs. Pirates.

Hudson has gone 26-16 with a 3.33 ERA (131 ER in 354.0 IP) in 56 games (52 starts) with the White Sox (2009-10) and D-backs (2010-present).
