Cleveland's Gomez Disciplined
Cleveland Indians pitcher Jeanmar Gomez has been suspended for five games and fined an undisclosed amount for intentionally throwing at and hitting Kansas City's Mike Moustakas during the bottom of the third inning of his Club's Saturday, April 14th game against the Royals at Kauffman Stadium. Joe Garagiola Jr., Senior Vice President of Standards and On-Field Operations for Major League Baseball, made the announcement.
Unless appealed, Gomez is scheduled to begin serving his suspension during Cleveland's game tonight against the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field. If Gomez elects to file an appeal, then the discipline issued to him will be held in abeyance until the process is complete.
