LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers held a ceremony to present Clayton Kershaw with the National League Cy Young Award plaque before Wednesday night's game.
Fernando Valenzuela, the 1981 Cy Young winner for the Dodgers, made the award presentation, which Kershaw originally received during the offseason at the New York Baseball Writers Banquet.
As part of the ceremony, Kershaw's wife, Ellen, threw out the first pitch to Cindy Ellis, wife of Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis. Ellen attempted to make the toss from in front of the mound, but Clayton waved her back to the rubber.
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly was asked where his 1985 American League MVP award is kept.
"It's in storage," he said. "I keep hoping the automatic payment gets made so I don't see it show up on 'Storage Wars' getting bid up."
