D-backs announce largest Opening Week attendance since 2003

PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks announced a paid attendance of 108,112 fans at Chase Field for Opening Weekend, the most since the first weekend of the 2003 season (113,709). The D-backs announced an attendance of 49,130 on Friday to open the 2012 season for the fourth-largest regular-season crowd in Arizona Diamondbacks history and third-largest on Opening Day. 


“We want to thank our fans for making Opening Weekend such a great success,” said D-backs’ President & CEO Derrick Hall. “Not only was Opening Day a success, but throughout the entire weekend our fans created a fun and lively atmosphere in support of our D-backs and the team responded with a sweep. There is a lot of buzz right now surrounding this team and the unparalleled experience at Chase Field."


Opening Weekend boasted crowds of 49,130 on Friday, 34,789 on Saturday and 24,193 on Sunday to cap the three-game homestand. In addition, the Arizona Diamondbacks set a record of $19,428 generated in their 50/50 raffle on Opening Night at Chase Field. The jackpot was split and one lucky fan walked away with $9,714 while the remaining $9,714 was donated to the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation.
