PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks set a record of $19,428 generated in their 50/50 raffle on Opening Night at Chase Field. The jackpot was split and one lucky fan walked away with $9,714. The remaining $9,714 went to the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation and will be used to help all youth sports and baseball outreach initiatives such as the “Diamonds Back” field building program, Little League scholarships, support of the RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) program and much more.
New technology this season at Chase Field allows fans to watch the 50/50 raffle jackpot total on dbTV with up-to-the-second updates on the rapidly rising jackpot. In addition, the 50/50 raffle is available at all D-backs home games this season, while last season it was only offered on Friday, Saturday and Sunday games. Fans can purchase raffle tickets for $2 each, three tickets for $5, seven tickets for $10 and 15 tickets for $20. Tickets are available at any of the four 50/50 raffle kiosks along the concourse or can be purchased from any of the 50/50 raffle team members walking throughout the stadium.
Last season the D-backs generated more than $200,000 from the 50/50 raffle in its inaugural season, with more than $100,000 raised to benefit the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation. Prior to yesterday’s record-setting jackpot, the highest 50/50 raffle jackpot was generated at the All-Star Game with a total of $18,897, split between one lucky fan ($9,448.50) and the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation ($9,448.50).
The Arizona Diamondbacks opened the 2012 season with 49,130 fans in attendance to mark the fourth-largest regular-season crowd in D-backs history and third-largest on Opening Day.
