Bronson Arroyo, originally slated to start in the series opener against the Braves on Friday, will instead get the start on Wednesday against the Pirates. Arroyo was used as a pinch-hitter on Sunday, but never pitched.
He replaces Aaron Harang, who pitched four innings in relief, giving up no runs on two hits with a walk and nine strikeouts.
Harang will start on Thursday in the series finale with the Pirates.
Edinson Volquez, who was scheduled to pitch on Thursday, will move to Friday for the series opener against the Braves. He pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief and was charged with three runs -- all of them unearned -- on one hit with a walk and two strikeouts. He surrendered the game-winning, walk-off home run to Adrian Gonzalez in the bottom of the 18th.
Matt Belisle, who started the 18-inning affair and lasted 4 1/3 innings after surrendering five runs on eight hits, will finish out the rotation and start on Saturday as he was regularly scheduled.
Johnny Cueto was the only Reds player who didn't appear against the Padres. He was saved because he is set to start in the series opener against the Pirates on Tuesday
