The Pittsburgh Pirates announced today that almost 1,400 Bleacher General Admission tickets for Opening Day will go on sale Tuesday, March 27 at 10am as part of their new Dynamic Ticketing Program. Fans can purchase these seats by visiting pirates.com, calling 1-877-893-2827, or visiting the PNC Park Box Office. For all future games the dynamically priced seats will go on-sale 10 days prior to each Pirates home game.
This is the first time the organization is offering dynamically priced tickets whereby prices for the Bleacher GA seats will be adjusted either upward or downward on a daily basis according to a demand-based pricing model, provided by industry leader Qcue, which adjusts the price to reflect demand for that game. For example, Bleacher GA tickets for the Saturday, April 7 game will go on-sale Thursday, March 29 at 10am and the prices could change daily based on demand until the game occurs or the tickets are sold-out.
One of the benefits of the dynamically priced section is fans will have an opportunity to secure tickets to high-demand games 10 days in advance of the actual game date. In 2011 the Pirates registered 17 sellouts and experienced a 22% increase in attendance as more than 1,940,000 fans entered PNC Park, the fourth-highest total in team history.
The popularity of the dynamic pricing model has increased throughout the sports market as now more than one-third of Major League Baseball teams utilize the system, as well as the majority of NBA and NHL franchises.
