Gonzalez and Verlander vie for video game supremacy beginning today

With the MLB season getting underway in less than a month, today is officially "Opening Day" for baseball video game fans. Both officially-licensed MLB games hit stores today, with Sony Computer Entertainment America and 2K Sports offering fans the latest in game-play technology and exciting new features, with superstar players leading the effort to convince fans their game is superior.

Featuring reigning AL MVP and Cy Young Award winner Justin Verlander as its cover athlete, Major League Baseball 2K12 will once again feature the $1 Million Perfect Game Challenge, with a new twist. Starting April 4, gamers will compete for one of eight sports in a final live tournament held at the MLB Fan Cave to determine who will walk away with the $1 million prize. The finalist will be determined by a dynamic leaderboard ranking the top perfect games thrown.

With four-time all-star Adrian Gonzalez as its cover athlete, Sony Computer Entertainment America's (SCEA) MLB 12 The Show debuts full PlayStation®Move motion controller support within all gameplay modes, the ability to share save files between PlayStation®3 (PS3™) and the newly launched PlayStation®Vita (PS Vita), TruBroadcast presentations blurring the line between reality and the in-game experience, and Diamond Dynasty, a new mode that juggles aspects of team management, player progression, and online competition. For the first time, there will also be a Canadian edition, featuring Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista on the cover.

Both games are available at all major retailers, with prices varying by gaming system.
