The first Pirates game broadcast on the network will be the Pirates Grapefruit League Home Opener on Sunday, March 4, against the Toronto Blue Jays at 1 p.m. from McKechnie Field in Bradenton, Fla.
To lead off the first ever Pirates broadcast, SPORTSRADIO 93-7 THE FAN will broadcast an hour and a half show hosted by Pirates play-by-play broadcaster Greg Brown this Sunday. The Live from Spring Training show, which will begin at 11 a.m., will feature interviews with Pirates coaches, players and broadcasters. The show will then be followed by the season’s first Neal Huntington Show, which will air prior to every Sunday game throughout the regular season.
All other Pirates Grapefruit League games not telecast on ROOT SPORTS or broadcast on SPORTSRADIO 93-7 THE FAN can be heard via webcast at pirates.com, except for the split squad game on Saturday, March 31 vs. the Minnesota Twins in Fort Myers, Fla.
Steve Blass, Greg Brown, Tim Neverett, Bob Walk and John Wehner will call the action throughout the 2012 season. Brown and Neverett will handle the play-by-play duties while Blass, Walk and Wehner serve as color analysts.
