KISSIMMEE, FL - The Astros officially begin Spring Training workouts on Monday morning at their Osceola County Stadium complex in Kissimmee, FL.
Pitchers and catchers will undergo physicals in the morning and then begin working out at 10:00 a.m. The first full squad workout is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 26. However, several position players have reported to camp and will work out tomorrow. The Astros will have a total of 63 players in camp this Spring, including 28 pitchers, six catchers, 16 infielders and 13 outfielders.
Astros Owner and Chairman Jim Crane and Astros President and CEO George Postolos will be at tomorrow’s workout. General Manager Jeff Luhnow will be in camp for the entire Spring.
2012 marks the 28th season that the Astros have trained in Kissimmee, which is the fifth-longest tenure at any Florida complex in the Major Leagues. Prior to moving to Kissimmee, the Astros trained at Astrotown in Cocoa, FL, for 21 seasons. All Astros workouts are open to the public with no admission fee.
The Astros open the Grapefruit League season at home on Saturday, March 3 vs. the Washington Nationals. The box office is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (EST) and on all game days.
