The 2012 Giant Race is excited to announce that registration for this year’s race will open today at www.thegiantrace.com
The 2012 Giant Race will take place on Sunday September 16, 2012. Featuring a half marathon, 10K and 5K, the Giant Race is one of San Francisco’s premier road races. All courses will start in front of AT&T Park along King Street and travel the Embarcadero waterfront with the half marathon continuing through PIER 39, Fort Mason, and the Marina. All courses will triumphantly finish on the field at AT&T Park.
Last year’s Giant Race sold out months before race day with more than 10,000 runners, and the 2012 Giant Race looks to be even bigger and more popular.
Registration is open at www.thegiantrace.com and www.sfgiants.com/giantrace. While supplies last an entry in any distance also includes a custom Matt Cain runner bobblehead.
Project Open Hand will once again be the official non-profit partner of the Giant Race. Last year the Giant Race raised over $125,000 for Project Open Hand. Project Open Hand is one of the Bay Area’s best-known, most respected and beloved charities. For more than 25 years Project Open Hand has provided food, nourishment and emotional support to people facing life-threatening illnesses. In 1985, founder Ruth Brinker, a retired meal service manager, began preparing meals for seven people living with AIDS. Project Open Hand today serves men, women and children with any acute, critical illness – HIV/AIDS, cancer, heart disease and many others, as well as a separate program for seniors ensuring companionship and nutrition for our community’s elderly.
