IF Adrian Cardenas claimed off waivers by the Chicago Cubs

OAKLAND, Calif. - Oakland A's infielder Adrian Cardenas was claimed off waivers by the Chicago Cubs, the club announced today.  Cardenas was designated for assignment January 26 after the A's signed Jonny Gomes.
 
Cardenas spent the entire 2011 season at Triple-A Sacramento and batted .314 with five home runs and 51 RBI in 127 games.  He added 47 walks for a .374 on-base percentage and also had a career-high 154 hits.  The 24-year old was originally acquired by the A's from Philadelphia along with Josh Outman and Matt Spencer for Joe Blanton, July 17, 2008.
