Lace up those running shoes! The 2nd annual Phillies Charities 5K returns on Saturday, March 31, 2012 and offers even more Phillies fun for participants.
Registration opens on Tuesday, January 24 at 10:00 a.m. on phillies.com/5k, and fans are encouraged to register early as last year's race sold out in minutes.
The USATF certified 5K (3.1 mile) run starts and ends at Citizens Bank Park with a loop through the surrounding area. After crossing the finish line, participants will be able to enjoy a cool down lap around the warning track on the field. Participants and their guests are also invited to attend an Awards Ceremony on Phillies Drive, complete with music, an appearance by the Phillie Phanatic and more.
"The enthusiasm for last year's Phillies Charities 5K was just incredible," said Mary Ann Gettis, Phillies Race Manager. "We're happy to announce that we are expanding registration to 5,000 participants — giving even more fans the chance to show their Phillies spirit and race for a good cause."
The Phillies Charities 5K entry fee is $50 per person, with net proceeds benefitting Phillies Charities, Inc. To register, please visit www.phillies.com/5k. New perks for 2012 participants include:
Participants will receive an official Phillies Charities 5K short sleeve tech tee, finisher medal with option to personalize, cinch bag, personalized bib, 10% discount coupon for the Majestic Clubhouse Store and voucher good for two tickets to a Phillies On-Deck Series game against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday, April 2 at 7:05 p.m. or Tuesday, April 3 at 7:05 p.m.
Runner's name will be in lights and displayed on a large screen when crossing the finish line.
After race is completed, runner will see name scrolling on the instant results monitors and rapid results touch screen kiosks, where participants can look up finish time and print results to take home.
