Astros blog places third among blogs

HOUSTON --  Alyson’s Footnotes, the popular blog by Alyson Footer featured on, placed third in’s blog rankings for 2011 in the PRO 100 division.’s Hot Stove Blog finished first in the PRO 100 division, ahead of Better Off Red, which is found on the Cincinnati Reds website. The list consists of the top 100 blogs in the network, based on the amount of hits, not including fan blogs or those posted by beat writers.

Footer, who is the Astros Senior Director of Social Media, provides a unique, behind-the-scenes perspective on Astros topics with her blog, including on-field and off-the-field features, stories and photos. In addition to the Alyson’s Footnotes blog, Footer and the Astros are actively involved in communicating with their fans through various Social Media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter, and are planning several new initiatives and events in 2012 that will further expand the relationship with fans.

The Astros host various Social Media events at Minute Maid Park during the season, including the popular and exclusive Social Media Nights in the Budweiser Patio that feature player appearances and prizes. The club also offers free tickets and prizes throughout the season through Twitter trivia contests and discounted tickets exclusively to members of their Facebook page and @astros Twitter followers.

Shuck (@JB_SHUCK) and Brett Wallace (@brettwallace29).

New Astros General Manager Jeff Luhnow (@jluhnow), radio broadcaster Brett Dolan (@astrosradio), and Footer (@alysonfooter) also have accounts. The club’s two official team accounts are @astros and @losastros (Spanish). For humorous quotes from players and staff, the Astros also operate @AstrosOneLiners.
