In his first three drafts from 2005-07, Luhnow produced 24 Major League players, which was more than any other Major League team during that span. Born in Mexico City, Mexico, Luhnow was also instrumental in the opening of the Cardinals baseball academy in the Dominican Republic in 2004 and led the re-establishment of the club's operations in Venezuela.

Hamilton began his Hall of Fame radio career as a disc jockey on the Armed Forces Radio Network during Thanksgiving week in 1945. The 2012 season will be his 28th season with the Astros and his 59th year broadcasting Major League Baseball.
