TinCaps Win Baseball America's Bob Freitas Award

Baseball America has announced that the Fort Wayne TinCaps franchise has been awarded the 2011 Bob Freitas "Organization of the Year" Award for the Class-A level for their successful 2011 season and continued contribution to Minor League Baseball.

"To receive the Bob Freitas award is a tremendous honor as a franchise," said Fort Wayne TinCaps president Mike Nutter. "This is one of the most prestigious national awards in all of Minor League Baseball, as it recognizes long term excellence in business and community involvement. This is as
much an award for the great fans of Fort Wayne as it is for our front office. We have the honor of coming to work each day at Parkview Field and providing this community with a high level of affordable, quality entertainment. This award is a reflection of how our community has embraced
the TinCaps and Parkview Field. We couldn’t be more proud and honored to receive this award."

The Freitas Award is named in honor of longtime Minor League Ambassador Bob Freitas and is awarded to franchises that are "on a path of long-term excellence and true parts of their communities." This marks the first time Fort Wayne has won this prestigious award.

“The Fort Wayne TinCaps have demonstrated a spirit of innovativeness as well as commitment to the Fort Wayne community with an out-of-the-box approach and dynamic new facility, Parkview Field, in downtown. We are pleased to recognize Fort Wayne as the 2011 Bob Freitas Award winner for the A level classification in Minor League Baseball,” said Lee Folger, President/Publisher of Baseball America.

The TinCaps will be presented with the Bob Freitas Award at the 2011 Baseball Winter Meetings in Dallas, Texas.

The 2012 season will be the 4th year at Parkview Field and the 14th season as an affiliate of the San Diego Padres. The 2012 TinCaps season will also mark the 20th year of professional baseball in Fort Wayne.

Fort Wayne opens their 2012 season at home on Thursday, April 5 at 7:05pm. TinCaps full season tickets, mini plans, group outings and suite rentals are available by calling the TinCaps' administrative office at (260) 482-6400 or by visiting TinCaps.com.
