The promotional schedule will once again feature the extremely popular "Skyblast" series which encompasses a live concert by a popular musical performer accompanied by a spectacular Zambelli Fireworks show following the game. The dates and performers are as follows:
Saturday, August 11, will feature a soon to be announced performing artist after the Pirates take on the San Diego Padres at 7:05 p.m.
The rock band Lifehouse will perform live on Saturday, September 29, after the Pirates battle the Cincinnati Reds at 7:05 p.m. With combined album sales of more than 5 million, Lifehouse produced No. 1 hits "Hanging By a Moment" and "You and Me", as well as other hit singles "First Time," "Whatever It Takes," and "Broken."
In addition, the Pirates have expanded the popular "FAN JAM" post-game concert series to two shows in 2012. The dates and performers are as follows:
Saturday, June 9, will feature a soon to be announced performing artist after the Pirates take on the Kansas City Royals at 7:15 p.m. as part of the annual Heritage Celebration.
Daughtry will perform live on Saturday, July 7, following the Pirates matchup against the San Francisco Giants at 4:05 p.m. The rock band, formed and fronted by American Idol Season 5 finalist Chris Daughtry, had their self-titled debut album reach No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 and featured hit songs "It's Not Over" and "Home".
The Pirates also announced the return of their popular "Free-Shirt Fridays" which will feature a different Pirates themed tshirt giveaway at all 12 Pirates Friday home games this season.
On Saturday, May 12, all fans in attendance to see the Pirates take on the Houston Astros at 7:05pm will receive a Joel Hanrahan All-Star bobblehead, the lone bobblehead giveaway of the season. In addition, the Pirates have expanded the Sunday giveaways on three dates to include all fans on Sunday, July 22 (Pirates visor) prior to the game vs. the Miami Marlins at 1:35pm, Sunday, August 26 (Pirates gym bag) prior to the game versus NL Central foe Milwaukee Brewers at 1:35 p.m., and Sunday, September 30 (Pirates fleece blanket) against NL Central opponent Cincinnati Reds at 1:35 pm.
The Pirates will celebrate Mother's Day on Sunday, May 13, by giving all children 14 years old and younger a kids Neil Walker replica home jersey and all moms a Neil Walker replica home jersey with pink accents prior to the game against the Houston Astros at 1:35pm.
The Pirates will honor the men and women of the United States Armed Forces during Memorial Day weekend by wearing specially designed camouflage jerseys and hats with a camouflage Pirates "P" on Sunday, May 27 vs. the Chicago Cubs at 1:35 p.m., and Monday, May 28 vs. the Cincinnati Reds at 1:35 p.m. All children 14 years old and younger in attendance on Sunday the 27th will receive a replica Andrew McCutchen camouflage jersey as part of the celebration.
The Pirates have also scheduled three 4:05 p.m. Thursday games (August 9, 16 and September 20) as well as two Saturday 4:05 p.m. games (June 23 and July 7) for 2012.
