Salvy among Royals' 4 Gold Glove finalists

KANSAS CITY -- The Royals have four Rawlings 2017 AL Gold Glove Award finalists, including catcher Salvador Perez, who will be going for his fifth straight honor when they are announced at 9 ET tonight on ESPN.

Kansas City's other finalists are left fielder Alex Gordon, first baseman Eric Hosmer and center fielder Lorenzo Cain.

American League all-time winners

Perez became the first AL catcher last year to win four straight Gold Glove Awards since Ivan Rodriguez won 10 straight from 1992-2001. Perez is up against the Indians' Yan Gomes and the Angels' Martin Maldonado.

Hosmer had won three straight until losing out to Mitch Moreland last season. He's up against Moreland and the Indians' Carlos Santana. Gordon missed out on his fifth Gold Glove Award last year when Brett Gardner of the Yankees won. He shares the category with Gardner and the Angels' Justin Upton. Cain is seeking his first Gold Glove Award in the same category as the Blue Jays' Kevin Pillar and the Twins' Byron Buxton.

This year's Gold Glove Awards represent just one way the game's top performers will be recognized. Voting is underway now for the Esurance MLB Awards, which annually honor MLB's greatest achievements as part of an industry-wide balloting process. MLB Awards season will culminate on Friday, Nov. 17, when winners are announced live on MLB Network and MLB.com starting at 8 p.m. ET.
