The Atlanta Braves released their 2012 spring training schedule
today. The 34-game slate begins on Saturday, March 3, with a home contest against the Detroit Tigers at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The Braves open the road portion of their spring schedule on Sunday, March 4, when they face the Tigers at Lakeland, Fla.
Braves' pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report to camp on Sunday, February 19, with their first workout set for the following day. The rest of the Braves players are scheduled to report on Friday, February 24, with the first full-squad workout slated for February 25. This spring marks the 15th year that the Braves will train at the Wide World of Sports complex, consistently ranked as the one of the best spring training facilities in the country by Baseball America.
Atlanta will play a total of 18 home games at Wide World of Sports, as they play host to 10 different teams, including three games each versus the Houston Astros and the New York Mets, and two games each against the Tigers, the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Washington Nationals. The defending American League East Champion New York Yankees will make two visits, on March 10 and March 28, and the defending National League East Champion Philadelphia Phillies will make one visit on April 1. The Baltimore Orioles, St. Louis Cardinals and Miami Marlins will also make one visit each.
The Florida portion of the schedule includes three home night games: Wednesday, March 14, versus the Nationals, Friday, March 16, versus the Astros and Friday, March 30 versus the Astros.
